Acne in your 20s or 30s?

How to manage increasing adult acne

Acne in your 20s or 30s?
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, as of 2015, out of the 110,000 patients who received treatment at a hospital or visited a pharmacy for acne, 43.1% of them were in their twenties.
Acne is no longer limited to teens.
Especially, the proportion of female acne patients is high.
Let's look at the causes and management of adult acne that increases in summer.

Reasons for acne

The pores that come out of the skin are called pores.
There are sebaceous glands near the pores, where the oily sebum secreted through the pores exits the pores and makes the skin dry.
However, when the amount of sebum secretion increases and the pores are clogged with dead skin cells and are not discharged, it becomes acne.
Acnes called P.acnes (Propionibacterium acnes) live in the pores.
Sebum that cannot be excreted because it is blocked by dead skin cells is a nutrient for acne bacteria.
Cotton-foam acne that has risen like millet rice is not severe, and it is an inflammatory acne with severe symptoms when it turns dark red and fills with pus between the pores.
Acne is most common on the face and over time it also develops on other areas such as the neck, back, and chest.
Acne is considered a symbol of youth because it begins in puberty.
It is due to androgens, a male hormone that increases during this period, and androgens increase the amount of sebum secretion and cause acne by causing them to stick together with dead skin cells.
Adolescent acne disappears when the secretion of sex hormones is normalized in the early 20s.

Adult acne

The main causes of acne in adults are stress, lack of sleep, make-up to clog pores, western-style eating habits, and bad lifestyle habits such as alcohol and tobacco.
For example, when you are under stress, the stress hormone cortisol is released and sebum increases, which affects the occurrence of acne.
Adult acne is characterized by red, pus, and inflamed, usually around the mouth, chin, and cheeks.
Adult acne is not well treated with antibiotics, and recurrence is common, so it is important to manage it regularly.
If adult acne is severe, treatment with acne medication, antibiotics, lasers, etc. may be required depending on the symptoms.

How to improve symptoms when you have acne in adults

Face wash products:

When using an oil-free cleansing product that does not contain oil, or when using soap, use a weak acidity (pH 5.5 or higher).

Number of face wash:

If you do it too often, your skin will be irritated, so you can see the opposite effect, so twice in the morning and in the evening are good.
Excessive use of exfoliating products can cause physical irritation to the skin and exacerbate acne, so be careful.

Moisturizing :

After washing your face and before it dries, use an oil-free, oil-free moisturizer.

Makeup :

Don't do it as much as possible, and when necessary, choose a low-oil or oil-free product to keep it to a minimum.
Skin products should be free from alcohol that irritates the skin.
Remove your makeup immediately after going out.
When removing makeup, use a gel-foam type cleanser rather than a fatty cold cream.

Sunscreen:

To reduce skin irritation, use water-based products that contain more moisture than oil.

Hair care:

If you have severe acne, you should stop using hair rinses or treatments that may irritate acne, and reduce the use of hair sprays and gels.
It is also necessary to reduce skin irritation by keeping the hair out of contact with the face.

food :

Avoid alcohol, sugar-rich foods, and high-fat foods as they can worsen acne inflammation.

life :

Getting enough sleep and reducing stress can alleviate acne symptoms.

acne :

Do not squeeze or touch it with your hands or nails.
